On behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) within the program "Production of the Future".
Within the framework of the study, qualitative interviews were conducted with a total of 68 companies in order to raise the knowledge and attitude towards digital transformation through industry 4.0 and new business models in Austrian companies. In addition to the analysis of the concrete effects of the digital transformation and corresponding activities of the companies, a focus will also be placed on barriers, risks and challenges as well as framework conditions for the digital transformation through industry 4.0 in Austria. In this way, a picture of Industry 4.0 can be drawn up in Austria, which not only sketches a theoretical possibility for the implementation of industry 4.0, but also provides an empirically based inventory survey including a wide range of assessments of Austrian companies.
Two more studies on business model innovations by the digital transformation and on recommendations for business and policy regarding industry 4.0 are going to be published soon. A study catalog for digital transformation through industry 4.0 and new business models has also been published.
The study catalog includes the state of studies and publications in German and English on topics such as “Industrial 4.0”, “Internet of Things”, “New Business Models” and the corresponding digital transformation of the economy, with a focus on the DACH Region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).
